Advanced Modalities
To support faster recovery and lasting comfort, we offer advanced, evidence-based therapies that enhance circulation, reduce inflammation, and promote tissue healing.
These treatments are often integrated into rehabilitation plans for post-surgical, athletic, and aging dogs.Â
 Our specialized modalities include:
- Equusir BEST-Box:Â AÂ combination of Photobiomodulation/Laser (PBM); Infrared (IR-B); and Electromagnetic Field Therapy (EMFT)
- Shockwave Therapy (ESWT): Non-invasive sound waves stimulate tissue repair, relieve chronic pain, and accelerate healing for stubborn or slow-to-heal conditions.
- Dry Needling: Targets and releases deep muscle tension or trigger points caused by injury, overuse, or compensation patterns.
- Laser Therapy / Photobiomodulation: Uses focused light energy to reduce pain and inflammation while promoting cellular regeneration.
- Therapeutic Ultrasound: Delivers sound waves to loosen tight muscles and improve flexibility before stretching or exercise.
- PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) Therapy: Improves circulation, reduces inflammation, and enhances tissue recovery at a cellular level.
Each therapy is selected based on your dog’s specific diagnosis and treatment goals—creating a highly personalized plan that supports quicker, more complete recovery.

Maureen McEntee - Client
We have been with Ria for many years now, multiple dogs, TPLO rehab.
Our youngest Lab is now 7 and our current sport is hunt retrieving.
A couple years ago she was working on a preserve retrieving pheasant at a controlled release shoot. She emerged from under some heavy brush literally on 3 legs holding her bird. When we got close enough, took the bird, we realized that her left leg got caught inside her protective vest. With help, we released the vest and her leg looked ok. Later the limp and head bob happened. I felt it was muscular so asked Ria to check her out. The PT evaluation found “Facet capsular entrapment and left shoulder tendonitis.” Story was 4 ½ at the time of this injury. Rehab was key, followed by monthly maintenance which continues, as part of our injury prevention and fitness. Story continues to work at the preserves, enjoying what she was bred to do. In October, the first shoot of the season, she picked up 71 pheasant in under 3 hours. She was a working machine. Ria has guided me to help keep her safe, to take care of and help prevent “ouchies”, so she can continue to enjoy what she does. Hunt is a multitude of dog sports in one package - strength, endurance, perseverance, agility, obedience, swimming and gently carrying and delivering the prize, often with limited vision with the size of the bird or wing across their face. Story has her NAHRA (North American Hunting Retriever Association Working Retriever Title and just earned her first AKC Master Hunt pass this month. On the gentle side she is an AKC Therapy Dog Excellent who melts for belly rubs!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral from my veterinarian?
No referral is required to schedule an evaluation.
However, we often collaborate with your primary veterinarian—especially for post-surgical cases—to ensure treatment plans are coordinated and medically supported.
What happens during my dog’s first visit?
Your first appointment is a Comprehensive Physical Therapy Evaluation.
We’ll review your dog’s history, observe movement and gait, perform gentle hands-on testing, and discuss findings with you. From there, we create a personalized rehabilitation plan and may start initial therapy if time allows.
How many sessions will my dog need?
That depends on the diagnosis, age, and goals.
Some dogs recover in just a few visits; others benefit from ongoing therapy to manage chronic conditions or maintain performance. You’ll receive a recommended plan after the first evaluation.
Do you take pet insurance?
Most pet insurance companies reimburse for rehabilitation and physical therapy once you submit your paid invoice.
We’ll provide detailed documentation for your claim and can coordinate any required referrals or prescriptions.
What if my dog isn’t injured but is slowing down with age?
We specialize in senior and arthritis support programs that keep aging dogs active, comfortable, and independent for as long as possible. Early intervention makes a big difference.
Can you help with weight management or mobility aids?
Yes. We design safe, low-impact conditioning programs for overweight dogs and provide fittings for braces, slings, and wheelchairs to improve independence at home.
Are the therapies painful?
Not at all.
Most dogs relax and enjoy their sessions—especially once they associate the clinic with relief and comfort. Treatments are always tailored to your dog’s tolerance and comfort level.
What makes your clinic different?
With over 25 years of experience in canine rehabilitation, sports performance, and integrative veterinary care, our team brings advanced clinical skill and genuine compassion to every case.
We treat every dog like our own—focusing on results, safety, and quality of life.
